Hi, I’m Tess Moss…

I’m a fascia and alignment specialist, SLM Bodywork Therapist and Advanced Myotherapist, Detox Specialist and Nutritional Coach, author, and creator of The Yield Method™ and The Yielder™.

With more than 25 years of experience in the health and fitness industry, my work has evolved from personal training and movement into advanced structural bodywork, fascia release, nutrition, detoxification, nervous system awareness, and mind-body health.

Since 2008, I have specialised in SLM Bodywork (Steve Lockhart Myotherapy), working extensively with fascia, alignment, chronic tension, and compensation patterns through a whole-body approach.

Over many years of working hands-on with clients — combined with my own experiences of injury, structural imbalance, and rebuilding my body — I began developing ways for people to work more effectively with their own bodies outside of treatment.

This eventually led me to create The Yield Method™, my whole-body approach to deep muscular and fascia release, alignment, movement and nervous system awareness, and The Yielder™, a purpose-designed self-release tool developed for use within the method.

At the heart of all my work is one principle: the body does not function as a collection of isolated parts. Physical structure, movement, the nervous system, nutrition, lifestyle, and emotional stress can all influence how we feel and function.

My approach is about looking at the bigger picture, understanding the patterns beneath the symptoms, and helping people develop greater awareness of their own bodies and practical ways to create meaningful change.

My Journey Into Health & Healing

My interest in health began long before it became my profession. I was always active and passionate about fitness, and eventually began working as a personal trainer while training heavily myself in running, weight training, and group fitness.

At 24, I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I was extremely fit and otherwise thriving at the time, so the diagnosis came as a shock. In the years that followed, my health began to deteriorate. I lost my energy, my hair began to fall out, I was constantly cold, and eventually I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.

When medication was recommended, I made the personal decision not to take it. Instead, I became determined to understand what was happening in my body and began researching nutrition, detoxification, and different approaches to health. I wanted to explore what I could do to support my body and health in my own way.

That decision led to years of research and experimentation with nutrition, detoxification, cleansing, and lifestyle changes. Each step brought improvements, but the major turning point came when I completed a 31-day green juice fast. Following this period, my Hashimoto’s markers returned to normal, and I was no longer diagnosed with Hashimoto’s.

That experience completely changed the way I thought about health and led me into a much deeper exploration of nutrition, detoxification, the body, and our capacity for change.

At the same time, years of intense physical training had taken their toll. I developed chronic injuries, pain, and structural imbalances and tried numerous approaches, including physiotherapy, chiropractic care, remedial massage, and podiatry, without finding the lasting changes I was looking for.

Then I discovered SLM Bodywork.

For the first time, I experienced an approach that looked beyond the painful area and worked with the deeper structural and compensation patterns throughout the entire body. The changes I experienced completely shifted my understanding of pain, movement and alignment.

I went on to complete formal training in SLM Bodywork and founded Body Mechanix Myotherapy in 2008. Since then, I have spent more than 18 years working hands-on with fascia, alignment, chronic tension and movement patterns, continually developing my understanding of how interconnected the body really is.

My Journey Didn't Stop There

Later experiences with significant trauma, injuries, PTSD, adrenal fatigue, severe insomnia, and chronic pain pushed me to explore another layer of health — the relationship between the physical body, nervous system, emotional experiences, lifestyle, and mind-body connection.

It became increasingly clear to me that no single part of our health exists in isolation.

Those experiences, combined with decades of professional work with clients, ultimately shaped the whole-body approach that underpins the way I work today.

Why My Approach is Different

I don't look at the body as a collection of isolated symptoms.

Whether I'm working hands-on through SLM Bodywork, teaching The Yield Method™, or working with someone through coaching, my approach is to look at the bigger picture — how the body is moving, where it is compensating, what patterns keep returning, and what may be contributing to those patterns.

My work brings together fascia and structural bodywork, movement and alignment, nervous system awareness, nutrition, lifestyle, and the mind-body connection.

The goal is not simply to temporarily manage symptoms, but to help people understand their own bodies more deeply and give them practical ways to create meaningful, lasting change.

My Story: Through the Trauma Podcast

In this episode of Through the Trauma, I share more about my own experiences, the challenges that shaped my understanding of the mind-body connection, and how my personal and professional journey influenced the way I work today.

What Energises Me

I love spending time at the beach, dancing, doing Pilates, weight training, exploring nature, discovering new places, and connecting with like-minded people.

These are the things that energise me, keep me grounded and bring a sense of balance, freedom and enjoyment into my life.

Let's Begin Your Healing Journey

Looking back, I realise how much easier my own path would have been with the right support, knowledge, and guidance.

That’s why I’ve developed such a deep passion for helping others understand their bodies and take a more active role in their own health and wellbeing.

I work with people who are ready to create meaningful change, whether through hands-on bodywork, fascia release and movement, The Yield Method™, or a broader mind-body approach to health.

My goal is to help you better understand the patterns affecting your body and wellbeing, and give you the knowledge and practical tools to create lasting change.

You don’t have to do it all alone. Sometimes, the right knowledge, guidance, and support can completely change the direction of your journey.
